just another Shifu Monday

In the midst of packing and loading (Jasper's Cottage is moving across country!) I find myself missing my boy an awful lot so I thought some pictures would cheer me up. I hope they make you smile too!

The last two pictures were taken in Florida, the new home of Jasper's Cottage. Read all about it later this week!

saying goodbye

We had to say goodbye to our precious angel a few days ago. He was getting better and then he wasn't.

It's so hard to say goodbye.

under the weather

The man of the place is on the road much of the time these days but it's not (awfully) lonely here at the cottage because I have the adorable Shifu.

who clearly has no concept of personal space or boundaries. He's my little buddy.

So it was especially distressing recently when he started acting different. At first I put it all down to aging, he was slowing down, etc. But eventually it became clear that something else was going on so off to the vet we went yesterday.

I had some fears, we've been fighting a cancerous tumor in his ear for 2 years now but luckily this was just a run of the mill ear problem that can be treated. We were sent home with 2 different medicines and lots of relief.

Today is going to be all about taking it easy and getting plenty of rest while we let the medicine do its good work. Soon enough we'll be back to running through the halls but today I'll enjoy snuggling with my baby on the couch.

how's your weather?

Big things happening here at Jasper's Cottage - I've been busy packing up all my crap cool stuff in preparation for a cross-country move and I'm afraid my poor blog has been a bit neglected.

Truth be told, it's a little hard to find beautiful things to take pictures of when the house is filled with boxes.

Luckily this past weekend provided plenty of inspiration - while the rest of the country is having horrendous weather, we experienced summer-like heat...which is ironic because it was actually way warmer than the temps we usually get in summer.

So, if you're buried up to your noses in snow and ice, here are a few pictures of our amazing weekend.

Hello 2015

Welcome to the first day of 2015!

At this time of year I usually enjoy talking about resolutions although I rarely get too involved or specific with mine because I refuse to beat myself up over things I know I'll never follow through on in the first place. I usually resolve to be adorable.

This year I actually want to challenge myself a little. I do have a dream but it's never going to be fully realized unless I put a little hard work into it so I have resolved to stop just talking about it and  to make my dream a reality this year.

There are a few changes coming my way - good ones definitely - but they're going to require a lot of work and it will take a few months of being unsettled before I can relax and enjoy. There's a part of me that wishes I could go to sleep until the really good part comes but that's just the lazy talking.

The dream has to include the journey, it's not all about the destination. I have to keep reminding myself of that.

So what is this dream and what kinds of changes are ahead? Stay tuned, announcements will be made soon.

goodbye and good riddance

Goodbye 2014! Except for a couple of lovely moments (mostly during our anniversary in July) I have not enjoyed you at all. Here, let me show you the door and give you a great big little shove to speed you on your way.

I do have to thank you, though, because you've shown me the things that really matter. You've opened my eyes to the true nature of friends and taught me that I can really only count on myself.

And I must admit that you have redeemed yourself the past couple of days by saving the best for last which allows me to look toward 2015 with hope and excitement.

So thanks...but get the h*## out now because it's time to party like a rockstar!

Christmas Eve at Tor House

I had to work today.

That kind of sucks.

Christmas Eve has always been my favorite day of the year and usually I like to spend it at home, baking treats, listening to Christmas music and watching the lights on the tree.

This year, not so much.

So maybe it wasn't so bad that I had to go into work.

I can't think of a more magical place to spend a blustery Christmas Eve.
